Missing Friends

No matter how far you move away, there will be a sense of loss.  This is natural.  Still, doesn't make it easier.  We had a strong community where we used to live and friends were not in short supply.  And yes, though we are making new friends here, it will take months if not years to feel the same way we did prior to the move.  And that's okay.  It is par for the course.

See, back at the old house, neighbors were like family.  Above, my kids didn't forget one of the friends they grew up with.  Wanted to make her a card for her graduation.  I thought it was sweet.  She will be attending UNC Chapel Hill in the fall.  Yes, we'll most likely visit her and bring her a goodie or two.  But we have many, many memories made with her.  She was like a daughter to us and truly was a joy to be around.  And, helped keep my kids in line.  She was our permanent and only dog sitter.  She saw us through many adoptions.  I can not thank her enough for all she did in our lives.

And there are others just like this.  People who'd drop everything at the drop of a hat to help our family or love on our family.  And I do see folks here at our new place connecting with us as well.  We enjoy their company and the love they've shown us.  But after over eleven years at the same location where you knew people inside and out, it is just different here.  It will take time to adjust and that is fine.  We do love our home, we love our new community, and we have thoroughly enjoyed meeting the new people here.  They really are top notch and awesome people.  Don't want you to think otherwise.  But, your life long friends that have been with you for all your ups and downs, those are the ones that are very much missed.  We have had visitors quite a bit since moving here so almost like not moving.  We are getting involved more in things in the community since moving here.  I can not say how eternally grateful we are for the friends we had/ have back at our old neighborhood.  Only hope the new friends we are making are half as great as the old.  There was a true love/friendship with so many.  As the Girl Scout song goes, we are making new friends but most definitely keeping the old.

The Nose Knows

Okay, so ever do one of those impulse buys?  I did.  The other day when I had to order something off Amazon (tent and do NOT ask..urghh), I also saw something for a soap dispensing device.  Looked so gross that I just knew my kids would get a kick out of it.  And, for just $5, why not.  Something stupid, something fun as most stuff we purchase here is of necessity instead.  So, dumb thing won this time.

The nose being tried on.  no, that's not how you're supposed to use it.

Okay, so Irina's face says it all.  Looks more like a nose from the side view.  And, just imagine body wash dripping out from the nostrils.  Nik was estatic when he saw this thing and kept asking to buy body wash which we still need to do.

Sofie had to try it on too.  Let you know how all this goes with the nose in the shower.  If anything, interesting conversation starter when we have guests stay over.  LOL.

  • Went through Sofie's clothes.  Bittersweet my baby girl is growing up
More to come.  Hopefully.  As long as I can stay online.

Internet Down-- maybe for a week

So, I'm on here now before it shuts down again.  Warren rigged it to work temporarily.  He was on the phone with Century Link and they have both determined it is indeed a line problem.  Guy on the phone asked if Warren worked in IT.  LOL.  Umm, yes, just a little bit.  Anyhow, they I guess they really started to trouble shoot.  They are going to send someone out Tuesday.  Not tomorrow, but next Tuesday w/ the trucks to find the problem.  Until then, highly unlikely we will have internet.  It goes in and out...a  lot and sometimes just minutes at a time.  Relieved they will fix it but trying to be patient till next week.  So, if I drop off the face of the planet for a week, you'll know why.  Plus, we are going to the reunion this week. Very excited as are the kids.  So much to do.  And, we have a friend of Max's visiting with us for a few days.  Busy, busy.  but, a good busy so can't complain.  Just wanted to give you all a head's up on the status reports if I fall off here for a few days.  Told the kids we're going Amish.  LOL.  Time to catch up on some old DVD's.  And pack.  Let's not forget pack.

Life Lessons

  1. Don't forget to shut the windows in the RV.  Otherwise, you will be running out a 1am during a severe thunderstorm to go shut them.
  2. Don't ask why your child is naked.  You won't want to know the answer.
  3. Don't let the child who is notariously clumsy for everything paint.  Just don't do it.  My ceiling looks like it has specs of mold on it now.  It doesn't.  It's paint.  Was the ceiling supposed to have paint on it?  No.
  4. You  have a little one, get a rubber mat for the carseat.  Just do it!  Upset stomach and car rides don't mix.  Just saying.  Diaper explosion is why we have rubber flooring throughout our
  5. Sometimes, your children imitating you is not a good lesson.  Like when Sofie watched me refill the printer paper.  Unbeknownst to me, she then filled it herself with those paper tablets that are glued at the top.  No, it doesn't feel through the printer well just so you know.
    6.  Don't let little ones help you organize the cleaning pantry.  Inevitably, they will spray  Lysol      in      your face.

  1. If you have a favorite item that you use, inevitably, it will get broken.
