Thoughtful Thursday

I have totally been out of touch with Thoughtful Thursday posts.  But, it is time to go back to them.  Really need to try.

Irina-- Lately, Irina has been asking if she can make this or that.  She'll notice we're running out of something and do it.  Here, she is making homemade dryer sheets out of sponges.  Getting it ready.

Max has been helping out a bunch as well.  He has been touching up paint and baseboards where needed.  Giving it a fresh look as we're selling.  He's also been doing minor repair work on the RV.  Little things that annoy us on trips but can wait.  Like the broken shade.  Got a sweet deal at Lowe's on the clearance section for nice Levolor shade.  Make took down our broken one and put the new one up.  Handyman may be his calling.

Yana-- Yana has a new boyfriend.  However, this go around she has chosen to include her sibs on short jaunts to the store or somewhere.  They have taken them out to eat or to the store.  Just one or two at a time but very thoughtful for her to include her sibs in her life now.

Bojan-- Bojan knows I want to get in shape and has offered to go walking with me every single night.  Though we haven't made it every night we're getting closer and learning a lot.

Alyona-- Alyona has taken to learning how to make things to drink or eat.  Basic stuff but is always asking if someone wants something.  Thoughtful of her for sure.

Alex-- Alex knows Logan is behind in school.  He stops any time Logan has a question and tries to help him out.  Very thoughtful of Alex.

Logan-- Logan is being thoughtful in the way he is speaking to people lately.  this has been a long time coming.  Learning when to stop with your words.  Still needs work but marked improvement.  Not so much a thoughtful piece this week as it is a proud moment but I'll take it.

As we know, Summer has c-ACC.  Simple tasks are sometimes hard for her.  Reni has been very thoughtful lately and always willing to jump in for her little sisters that need help. She was readjusting Summer's pants here.

Nik-- The other week, Sofie did not feel good.  Nik was very concerned and did not want her to be alone on the couch.  So, he asked to sleep with her on the couch.  Very thoughtful of him.

Summer-- When Nik asks her, she always will go play with him.  She also is willing to play with Sofie as well.  Nik really doesn't have any friends so this is important to him.  I know Summer doesn't realize that but do know she cares a lot about him and I think that's thoughtful.

Sofie--  She is always making sure the dogs are well taken care of.  Puts blankets on them if she thinks they're cold, fills there bowl up b/c she tells me they're hungry.  Just thoughtful of the dogs and makes sure they are well taken care of.

Digby, Dentist and daunting task

Yesterday was hopping and really had no time to write.  Took Digby to the groomers. Finally.  dog has a more regal look now.  Just beautiful and truly, he needed a good grooming.  He was past just give him a bath stage.  Alaska is much easier to throw in the tub and her hair is different.  Very low maintenance dog.  Digby, seems whether we brush him often or not, it tends to mat and not sure why.  He's healthy, sees a vet regularly but I always forget to ask her the hair question.  Groomer got a bag full off Digby.  He is fresh, soft, smells good, and looks fantastic.  Though another dog attacked him as he first came in, the owner and I stopped it fairly quickly.  Good thing too as Digby would have won that one on size alone.  LOL.  She said he did great but was a very nervous dog. I then explained how he was a rescue and once he gets comfortable with you, he won't be nervous any more.  Alaska missed him like crazy yesterday.

Dentist.  Took 5 kids to the dentist yesterday.  Irina, Max, Bojan, Alex, and Nik.  None had cavities.  Girls and I still don't see how that's possible but we'll take it.  Some of our boys, not all mind you, are slacking on the brushing department.  Yet all seem never to end up with cavities.  Hey, do what works I suppose.  Max has room for all four of the wisdom teeth to come in.  Irina's wisdom tooth pulled healed up nicely and well, everything was smooth and great.  in and out in about an hour's time.  Headed home, dropped kids off and left to go pick up Diggs.  Came home and speech therapist was working with the kids.  Made stuffed peppers and tried to get things done from a day that hadn't ended since the morning.  Lots of errand running in the morning yesterday too.

Daunting task you ask.  Photos.  I have tons of them.  And I mean tons.  Let me tell you what happened.  YEARS ago, we left for Serbia.  Told them to NOT go through any photos.  see, I had spent at that time approximately three months or more organizing, sorting, writing on them, etc.  Had all ready to go in albums just about.  Left out of the country for two weeks.  Just twelve days actually.  In that time, they destroyed everything I had done.  I was so mad and to this day can't look at that storage bin FULL of photos without getting aggrevated.  Years later!  This isn't a little storage bin folks.  It's one of those big one.  We are talking thousands of pictures.  Now, in addition, I have a pile on the computer that we are going to convert to CD by year and make one for every kid.  Or, that's my goal.  In addition, all the photo frames ALEX has broken (& yes it is him and yes, I did call him out) from playing ball in the house are being fixed up and replaced.  I worked on some last night with Max.  It will be an ongoing project.  This giant photo task is daunting but truly does need to be done.

Today, we finally get to stay home almost all day.  Tomorrow we're going to an Arbor Day Celebration and Alyona will learn more about trees.  Plus, free trees is a nice perk.  Picnic lunch in the park afterwards.  Can't beat it.  Tonight, soccer games for Alex and Logan.  More posts and pictures to come.  Just been living life lately and this week is fast paced.  Plus, seems like pollen is starting to come out.  My aching head.

Bojan's Opportunity

Bojan and us were approached by the school last week.  Well, actually a senior doing a senior project here.  Hers is to teach physically challenged students to scuba dive.  Asked him if he would be interested in doing so.  There is no cost to us.  Plenty of one on one too.  He starts this Friday.  He'll attend a few classes first and then go in the water.  He will actually get a certification out of this!  The senior and 3 other instructors will be teaching them.  This will be a challenge for Bojan to be sure.  Even his prosthetist said he'll flip over.  He has to learn to balance the weight of the tanks and many other things.  I think this is an amazing opportunity to for him to try something out of his comfort zone.  There may be a bit of press coverage and photo shoots.  I'll share links if they go that route.  Love that they thought of him.  Only 2 students are doing this.  Exciting, huh?  Just had to share the news.  Well, got to get back to social studies with Alyona.  And, get ready to go to running club with the elementary kids.  So, maybe I'll get a picture of him in all his gear in a few weeks.  No limitations!
