Northerners Will Laugh

So, NC is equipped deal with 105 degree temps and nothing goes wrong.  However, you see one little flake of the white stuff and all bets are off!  The images in are yard are hard to believe.  I mean, I think it's snow.  Maybe it's baby powder.  Not sure.  Let me give you a glimpse just so you'll have a better understanding of the devastating effects of said white stuff in the south.

This was the snowfall.  Oh, and weathermen here can't predict it either.  It went anywhere from a trace to 6" this go around.  LOL.  Trace is right!

I couldn't even really scoop any off the leaves to eat.

Nik came running inside to show me something.  No, it's not a tooth, but a snowball.

Yes, they brave the elements and pretty much cleaned up the yard to try to make a snowball and even borrowed neighbor's snow.  Notice the sled in the right of the photo?  Yeh, not happening.

First photo attempt at the snow shot.  No jackets.  No gloves.  Why should there be?  There's hardly any snow!

They were so proud they got enough snow for 2 snowman body parts.  And in this picture, you really can see just how white Nik is.  LOL.  When it started snowing here, they had already delayed or closed 405 places.  Way more the next morning.  No, we are not equipped for snow or any precipitation for that matter.

We are bracing for another cold front coming this week. On Wednesday.  They are already talking about it. Thank goodness I have bread and hot cocoa.  I wouldn't survive otherwise you know.  This is supposed to be the makings of a possible 'big' snowfall.  I am not holding my breath.  However, I still want enough that I can pelt some snowballs at my kids. I owe them that!  Sledding would be great but has to ice over first and I don't think this system is going to do that from what I hear.

Tonight it will be cold.  But, we're going to a friend's farm to enjoy a bonfire.  Can't wait.  Kids all have a great time there as do we.  We have some big plans for travel coming up this year.  More on happenings soon.  Really did not realize this week would be so busy or I'd be arguing w/ a school.  Well, not really the school but the situation at hand.  February, we are going to have to withdraw some of the kids.  This is NOT working, they are not learning, they are regressing, we are frustrated, they are begging to be out of school, and well, it's reached the point of no return.  It has been stressful having them in school.  I just didn't think I'd be this stressed having them in school.  There is always something.  I've realized their needs are unique and this is just not going to work with a school system that wants everyone the same.  They are not.  Sorry, but you can't teach a kid 6th grade work if they can't spell, read or write.  So, more coming in future posts.  For now, got to get some bundled up for a bonfire!

Girls, girls, girls

First off, it's SNOWING!!!  Now, in NC you must understand that is a huge deal and everything starts to close down.  I'm being serious.  My northern friends are laughing right now.  405 closings thus far and the ground is slightly dusted w/ it stopping in about 3 hours.  We are expected to get an inch to two inches at most.  Crazy, huh?  But, it will be fun nonetheless.  We had art today and rest of the day just hung out here w/ friends.  Tomorrow kids are still off school.  Max is going to work on a little family tree kit I had bought at 5 Below.  We were going to do some touch up painting on the white trim work but paint is ruined.  Bummer.  Getting little things done here and there.  Simple week.  Weekend is what we're looking forward to.  Bonfire at our friend's farm.  Can't wait!  Freezing temps, hot fire, delicious food.  Wahoo.  We all love going there.  Been slack on pictures lately but again, life has been moving fast here lately and kids come first.  Thankful for everyone's health and that surgeries are behind us.  Phew, three at once was something else, especially over Christmas.  But, all handled it better than I thought they would.

Time for a few pics of the girls.  So, here goes nothing.  No particular order whatsoever.  Just random shots of my girls here and there.

Summer and that infamous smile.  Contagious.  She's wearing a hat a friend made her.

Sofie very sure of herself at the top of the playground.

Summer, full length view.  Growing like a weed!  She's in size 7/8 now and is actually fitting into some things Alyona had last summer.  Yikes!

Alyona feeling better after surgeries.  Can't keep my kids in the house for long.  They love the outdoors to be sure.

Irina after work on day.  Growing up for sure and maturing along the way.

Blurry but Summer and Sofie playing.  They LOVE the beads they got from Santa.  Make all sorts of things with them.  Trouble is, about half have disappeared thus far.  Want to find more of them.

Our girl Alaska.  The dog thinks she's human.  Pushes me almost out of bed every single night.  This is a dog that does not prefer to sleep on the floor.

Alyona got a curling iron for Christmas that she loves.  She was working on Yana's hair who was being quite patient with her.  For once they weren't arguing.  Miracle.  These two tend to clash.  Personalities I suppose.  Both stubborn .  Neither wants to back down when they do argue.

Sofie very excited to have pigtails.

Sofie washing her hands.  When she found out she could do it herself, she would wash them till they were red from being so cold.  You know, she just kept washing them. Hey, at least she's clean.  And yes, I know Reni is not in this batch of pictures.  Just the way it worked out this go around.  Have to give an update soon on all the kids.  Time to look at the "dusting."

And much, much more.  Still working on finding these stupid house pictures but get sidetracked looking at pics w/ kids in it.  You know, old pics.  Baby Nik!  He was SO little.  Memories of House Guest, and well, realizing all my kids are growing up fast.  How did I miss that?!  Well, haven't but it just seemed like a blink of an eye.  Nik will be a teenager in 2 years!  Most my kids will be teens soon.  They don't need mom as much.  Oh, so much to share.  Getting caught up in posts to be sure.  Stay tuned.
