What's Up?

A LOT!  Too much to even write about.  However, wanted to write a brief post here as to why we may be busy the next few days, weeks, months.  Today, we became a family of 14 again.  Yes, house guest is back to stay.  Until things are final with house guest and Little One though, I will not post pictures.  Both are 3yo, and both girls are beautiful.  They keep us on our toes to be sure.  Today's reunion was hard. Trust has to be built up again.  The girls all played all day.  Stuck around the house b/c we need to be sure that we know where home is.  She did not want anyone to put her down.  This will take time and we understand that.  For now though, bonding and taking things one step at a time.  My focus will be on my family.  Blog may be sporadic for a few days till things settle a bit more.  No biggie.  Would like to still try to catch up with other things though.  Yana is on cross country this year.  We plan on going to a few meets.  I have an IEP meeting Friday and Summer's kindergarten assessment.  Also, shopping on Friday morning.  My kids will all have appointments Friday afternoon, ahem.  We are looking forward to our long weekend.  We will be technology free as we always try to do on trips.  Well, to a point. Started this yesterday and never finished.  More to come.

Family pictures...finally

The other day we went to a local location to get a family picture done.  Allison Prescott Photography did the pictures.  She was fantastic w/ trying to get all the kids to look and smile at the same time.  Trust me, that takes some doing.  I wish I could show you all of them but at this time, I can't show Little One till things are all finalized.  Need to check on that status as well. Anyhow, give you a few shots so you can see some of the kiddos.

These 5 can find trouble in the middle of a desert.  I guarantee it.

Reni has come such a long, long way in such a short time.  Her world is wide open!

My first adult child.  Very hard to believe the years have gone this quickly.

Summer is very ready to start kindergarten.  She's going to give them a run for their money!

Alyona is getting so grown up.

One of his last days on that leg.  Notice, he couldn't even put it down at the time.  Hurt too badly.  Not any more!

My now newest teenager.

Nik is becoming quite the young man.  He idolizes his big brothers.

Another teen here.  The teens outnumber the toddlers here.  Not sure that's fair.

Max, getting ready to enter his senior year of high school.  Wonder what the future will be for him.

Kids just hanging out and goofing off.

More goofing around waiting between shots.  What you don't know is this was a race against time as horrible weather started happening.  It was crazy to say the least.

Summer in a dress my grandmother made for me when I was little.

Summer, my Bulgarian cutie.  And no, she does not have mascara on.  That is all natural.

Alex catching rain drops after the storm was starting.  After this, it was a torrential down pour.

Yana, posing by a wagon wheel.  I'll probably get a "MOM!" for posting it but oh well.

I want to thank Allison Prescott Photography for taking the time to take some shots of our family.  They have quite the patience.  Boys and pictures never mix well.  LOL.  Thanks for letting me share a few.  Kids are growing up fast.  I'll have to get another portrait done for Christmas for sure.  Enjoy your day.  Little kids are up from a nap so time to go outside and play a bit.  Waiting for Bojan's bus to arrive home next.

Manic Monday

Already Monday.  So hard to believe.  At some point, we'll have to catch up on the weekend.  For now though, a little of what's happening around Chaos Manor this week.

  • First day of school for many today
  • Alex & Logan still can't enroll
  • Went to bank
  • Houseguest will be coming back tomorrow to stay
  • Started babysitting today
  • Dogs still need that bath
  • Dogs have completely stopped eating themselves raw (Advantix folks!)
  • Rescheduled 6 dental appointments
  • Rescheduled my cardio appt.
  • Cancelled Alyona's appt. at Shriners since they can't do anything till tethered cord taken care of
  • Cleaning up yard today
  • Wrote two IEP requests
  • Nik asked Reni to help him at school today
  • Yana's birthday is next in September
  • Still undecided about our beach trip this coming weekend (separate post on that later)
  • Cleaning out RV today
  • Prepping RV just in case
  • Still trying to sell some items around the house and clear the clutter
  • Need to analyze all kids' clothing and see what each one is missing
  • If I had a never ending staples card and shoe carnival card, I think we'd be in business (LOL)
  • Kids cleand up yesterday
  • Calling courthouse to check on Little One's status for adoption (getting closer to being official!)
  • New homestudy done & received last week for houseguest
  • Filing at courthouse this week
  • Irina and Warren fixed the washer that was dead this weekend
  • Got paper organized this past weekend
  • I owe my kids money (yeh, don't ask.  Ever borrow from  your kids for something & regret doing that later?  And why didn't I just go to the bank?? )
  • We need quite a few new twin mattresses.  I've asked multiple places if they'll cut us a deal.  Nope.  Not even if you buy in high supply.  All claim their prices are the lowest.  Yeh, that's a lie!  So, any good ideas, please let me know.  I know we can't do it now.  We replaced partial ones last year.
  • Made cake for back to school
  • Yana staying after school to see about cross country
  • Summer excited about Kindergarten but doesn't start until the 9th of September
  • Working on Alyona's homeschool stuff
  • Tons going on in September
  • Seeing about kids doing Awanas this year
  • Scheduling Bojan's casting appointment.  They'll come to the house now!  Wahoo!!!
Much, much more going on but those are some of the highlights.  I'll get a post done later about what all we did this past weekend.  The kids are beyond thrilled about tomorrow.  Though despite our excitement and happiness, we must remember, this is a closing chapter for another family and they are grief stricken.  I will not write about any of those situations because that is not for public knowledge.  However, I do think it is important in the adoption community to know rehoming happens more often than we'd like to think about.  Again, I don't want to get too deep into things but would love to write generally one day about this topic as I think it's critical for future adoptive parents.   Well, do need to go.  Need to make the icing for the cake welcoming them back to school.  I must say, I REALLY miss them today.  Not so much the older teen as there comes a time in life when they're becoming more independent and we need to foster that.  Plus, I'm used to them hanging out with friends or working.  But Reni and Nik, that's another story.  And boy, when Summer starts I may really be going a little nutty.  Who knows.  For now, enjoying the kids I have at home.  Summer, Logan and Alex will start school very soon.  Alyona, Little One and Houseguest will be at home with me.  New chapter in our lives.  More later today.
